Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Director of Patient Financial Services, the Patient Access Manager is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Admissions Department including but not limited to supervising and providing support to the Admissions employees, ensuring that insurance, financial and clinical data is accurately collected, analyzed and recorded on all patients so that bills can be produced according to regulatory and payer requirements; and interacting in a customer-focused manner at points during access and later activities as appropriate, to ensure that patient's and their representative's needs are met, and that they understand and comply with the revenue cycle process expectations including resolving their personal liabilities through various payment and program options. Educational/Experience/Regulatory Requirements:  Ability to organize work, direct and set priorities, and effectively accomplish required duties with minimal or no supervision.  An acceptable Associate's Degree (or equivalent) required. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.  Two to four years' previous acceptable experience in a medical scheduling office required with one year previous experience in a hospital setting.  One to two years of supervisory experience or three years experience in a position that demonstrates leadership qualities required.  Prior work history must demonstrate a thorough understanding of medical insurance, procedures related to filing claims, and understanding of medical records.  Intermediate to Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and/or Microsoft Access preferred.  Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including but not limited to clerical ability and typing test.  Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.   Language Skills:  Must be able to read & communicate effectively in English.  Must be able to communicate firmly what is required of patients in regards to their financial status.  Must be able to communicate (orally and in writing) effectively with patients, doctors and other departments in the institution.
